While corona stations for film stretching lines can easily span widths of over 10 m, treatment stations for label applications sit at the opposite end of the spectrum, limited to just a few centimeters in width.
In label applications, corona treatment is employed to functionalize the surface of the material web, enhancing the adhesion of print colors, lacquers, adhesives, and other coatings on labels. The market’s need for relatively small systems demands compact corona stations that seamlessly integrate into new or existing production systems.
SOFTAL’s CLN series of corona stations and corresponding generators come equipped with multiple interfaces and tried-and-tested measurement, notification, and monitoring functions, making them ideally suited for integration into various systems. In such instances, converters administer a so-called refresher corona treatment to the material to enhance its surface energy, augment its wettability, and ensure better adhesion of colors and coatings.
