SORBAL™ Ozone Converter
The task
The electrode housings used in SOFTAL treatment stations are designed in a compact way with special consideration for optimum process air extraction flow. A corona system with a plasma discharge operating in ambient air always generates Ozone, which needs to be extracted. All SOFTAL treatment station come with an extraction monitoring system, which prevents treatment station activation in the event of an extraction system fault. The extracted process air mixture is then channeled through exhaust ducts and released to the environment under safe conditions.
In order to decrease ozone contamination of environmental air and comply with local occupational health and safety regulations, the extracted air can be channeled directly into an ozone converter. The SORBAL-K unit is a stand-alone high-performance filter specially designed for this purpose. Due to the highly corrosive properties of ozone, all materials and gaskets of these units are corrosion resistant. The housing and the components are either made of sheet metal with corrosion resistant coating or stainless steel.
To ensure maximum efficiency of the exhaust air cleaning process, the filter housing is equipped with three inline filter stages. A differential pressure gauge with a large, easily readable scale indicates a required filter change for the first two filter stages. For efficiency checks, the SORBAL-K ozone unit is equipped with connectors for ozone measurement devices which are installed upstream and downstream of the catalyst block.
